Is lying OK in a negotiation?

I wanted to share with you the results of a small poll I conducted on lying in a negotiation, as you can see below around 47% stated that "Lying is part of the negotiation process" and "It is OK to lie on occasion, only if pushed"! I'm not going to get into the morals of business conduct, but I do think it is important to understand that when in a negotiation, you need to be aware of the fact that we are all human, and part of human nature is occasionally to lie, even if not planned in advance, we all have different triggers that if pushed we react in certain ways. So next time you are in a negotiation be aware of this small fact. P.S Try learning a few body language cues that can point to someone lying.
